Pack Room by Room
Avoid mixing items from different rooms in one box. You should focus on one area of a room at a time, and to prevent small items or knickknacks from being lost, you should wrap them in brightly-colored tissue paper.
Label Everything
Another common packing tip: the best way to stay organized is by labeling. Label clearly on the top and side of each box. You should write a general description of the contents and the room name. To provide additional clarity for you and/or your movers, you can establish a color coding system. Get different colored markers or labels and assign each room a color.
Use Packing Paper
Packing paper is one of the most versatile and easy to use packing supplies in Atlanta. It’s also much better than newspaper, because it’s clean and ink will not bleed onto your possessions. It can be used to fill space, wrap fragile items, protect screens and frames from scratches and cushion the bottom and top of boxes.
Don’t Procrastinate
A few weeks prior to your move, start doing a little packing each day. It seems simple enough, but getting started isn’t always easy. Pacing yourself will allow you to be more organized and packing won’t seem so overwhelming this way. Purchase packing supplies in Atlanta early on in the game so you are 100% ready when it comes time to pack and won’t feel rushed or have to go to the store.
Use Ziploc Bags for Hardware
When you are taking apart your furniture, it’s so easy for small hardware to go missing. Use Ziploc bags to hold your hardware, and then tape the bags to the furniture. You won’t lose anything and you’ll know exactly what the hardware belongs to!
