While paying for parking is never a pleasurable experience, it seems as though Atlanta drivers can be grateful for the downtown parking fees when compared to the rest of the country. According to a study by Colliers International, parking in a covered/underground lot in the business district of Atlanta can cost anywhere from $1-$8 per hour, while the same scenario can go for $28 in Chicago or even $40 in midtown Manhattan.
Currently, the national average is from $2.99-$8.99, which Atlanta is below. Other metropolitan cities such as Cleveland and Seattle can be as much as $12. When it comes to daily rates, Atlanta wins again, at rates between $5-$22. The Atlanta movers were shocked to hear that the highest daily parking rate is in Honolulu…for a whopping $75/day.
So, Atlanta, be grateful our metro area parking is on the lower side of the average. Remember, things could be worse… the most expensive parking on the planet is in London–for an outstanding average of $1,083.59 you can have a parking spot reserved for a month.
