If you are in business development and just recently moved to Atlanta, the past two years have proven to be the largest in terms of developments taking place in the city.

Atlanta’s debut of the new Buckhead district was one that made headlines and had Atlanta moving companies, local millennials, and young families extremely thrilled. However, developments have not ceased yet.

Krog Street Market, a streetcar, two downtown tourist areas, Ponce City Market, and numerous residential towers were also constructed and implemented last year. But, 2016 is making moves to be one of the most developmental project proposal years yet. Thousands of apartments are on the floor for building proposals and discussions, as well as a $360 million proposal for Tech Square (Technology Square Phase II) High Performance Computing Center.

Also on the table are two professional stadiums and a sky-high mini amusement park named The Roof for Ponce City Market, in what is being called a “grab-bag” of developmental projects that have local Atlanta developers and corporate Atlanta movers jumping to get a hand in the bag.

Atlanta’s 2016 developments are ginormous and although everyone dislikes construction, the revenue that each new area is said to bring in has locals thrilled. With more apartments and things for families to do, the local movers at All My Sons Moving & Storage hope that more and more people will move to The Athens of the South.

If you are moving to Altanta, Atlanta movers and locals suggest that you prepare to never be able to visit all of the amazing restaurants that the city has to offer. In fact, you would have to go to a different restaurant venue for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, every day of the year to even attempt to try all of the great dining venues that Atlanta has to offer.

Atlanta has long been known for its amazing food, surplus of things to do, and shopping. So, it comes as no surprise to locals and Atlanta moving companies that there are already new dining venues that have opened their doors to ring in 2016.

The Mercury will be opening the second or third week of January at Ponce City Market. The Mercury is a creation by the partners of the Pinewood in Decatur and Proof Old Fashioned Cocktail Syrup. The Mercury will be bringing classic cocktails and American cuisine that fashion back to the 1960s.

Urban pL8 is now open and is described as a place for those who eat healthy. With grab-and-go salads and sandwiches, as well as weekly meal plans, you can expect to find your local gym buddies and even your local Atlanta movers grabbing a meal on the go at this new dining venue in Atlanta.

The Atlanta movers at All My Sons Moving & Storage recommend either of the above new restaurants to check out while we help unpack your belongings. Take a break from moving and visit one of the new dining venues in Atlanta!

Atlantans are enduring some of the coldest days of the season this New Year, causing residents new and old to bundle up. All My Sons Moving & Storage Atlanta is a lead moving company in Atlanta and across Georgia, and since our local movers want families to stay warm and safe, we are proud to announce the opening of a new, popular, Atlanta hot spot: Kit and Ace.

Kit and Ace is a popular Canadian clothing store that is known for its cozy basics, and its opening could not have come at a better time, as Atlanta locals are wrapping up due to the cold weather this January. Kit and Ace not only opened one store, but two just in time for the New Year. The first location opened in November and is located at Ponce City Market, while the second location has not opened its doors yet, but will be located in Buckhead.

If you are moving to the area, here are three reasons why Atlanta movers and locals love Kit and Ace:

1. Shannon and J.J. Wilson founded Kit and Ace and are the wife and son of Lululemon founder Chip Wilson. Since the mother and son have such vast experience in the business of comfy clothing, it is no surprise why so many people love Kit and Ace.

2. “Technical cashmere” is a term that belongs to Kit and Ace’s fur from the belly of Mongolian goats. So although prices may seem a little high, the way you feel wearing their clothes is what makes it all worth it, not to mention durability.

3. Kit and Ace are big supporters of local talent, artists, and other entrepreneurs, so the store displays gallery pieces from local artists, as well as regular events and showcases.

According to a recent ranking by Airbnb, one certain Atlanta neighborhood is one of the hottest places to visit for 2016. Airbnb is a digital marketplace for people to list, find, and book unique boarding accommodations in cities all around the world. So no matter where you are visiting, you no longer have to stay at a pricey hotel, but an affordable rental home instead.

All My Sons Moving & Storage Atlanta learned that after Airbnb studied the travel patterns of over 40 million people who used their services in 2015, they found that Atlanta’s Poncey-Highland ranked as number 12 out of 16 top trending neighborhoods in 2016.

Although Airbnb users and travelers use their specialty accommodation services more for cities like France, Greece, and Spain, Atlanta’s Poncey-Highland saw a 240% growth in guests from 2015-2015, with numbers expecting to remain steady or even increase in 2016.

Perhaps what Atlanta moving companies thought was the most unique aspect to the recorded figures was the fact that much like traveling to France, Spain, or Greece, people travel to Atlanta to be immersed in the culture and to feel like a local.

If you are moving to Atlanta and about to become a local, be sure to check out the newly famous and popular neighborhood of Poncey-Highland and you can make others’ travel dreams become your new home!

Atlanta has something for everyone, even on New Year’s Eve. Although New Year’s Eve may typically be thought of as an adult celebration, the great part about moving to Atlanta is that there are kid-friendly events for every holiday, including New Year’s Eve!

Take a break from moving and celebrate New Year’s Eve in Atlanta at one of the following top events:

New Wave New Year’s Eve Party – Although New Year’s is meant to ring in the future of the upcoming year, take a step back in time at this New Year’s bash at Famous Pub that features 80s music, retro costume attire, retro video games, a photo booth, pool table, and of course – food and champagne.

A Stones New Year’s Eve – New Year’s Eve in Atlanta would not be the same without this tradition at the Strand in Marietta Square to party and watch the ball drop.

Legoland Discovery Center Noon Year’s Eve Atlanta movers don’t want the kids to miss out on the fun of New Year’s Eve in Atlanta, so take them to Legoland for a balloon drop, rides, a 4D movie, and Lego build.

Fernbank Museum of Natural History Noon Year’s Eve – Take a break from moving and let your kids dance among dinosaur bones while awaiting the ball drop. Explore the exhibits and enjoy this end-of-the-year bash all before bedtime.

12th Annual Downtown Countdown – For a more classic New Year’s Eve in Atlanta, join DJs, cover bands, and comedians for a classic New Year’s Eve soiree at the Hyatt Regency. Although not catered towards children, you can always rent a room for the night and enjoy the festivities until the children’s bedtime.

Atlanta is a moving destination hot spot when it comes to people moving into the area looking for work. If you are moving to Atlanta for a job, local movers want you to remember that although it is the holiday season, it is important to stay active, which is why our Atlanta movers have created a list of the simplest ways to keep your body moving while at the office.

  1. Stand. If your boss will allow you, stand whenever possible. If they are really lenient in your office, suggest standing desks that allows you to alter the height.
  2. Creatively Sit. Again, if your company will allow you to, opt for a chair that is better for your health; like Soul Seat. Soul Seat allows you to sit in many different ways, but is designed for more cross-legged or kneeling ways of sitting. Seats like Soul Seat that are ergonomic also give you more room to stretch out your legs throughout the day.
  3. Walk. Atlanta movers are on their feet all day, but for those who are not, it is important to make sure that you are getting up from your chair and walking around for roughly three minutes, every half-hour.
  4. Give your eyes a break. Most people who work in an office all day are typically in front of a computer. Since staring at a computer all day can be harsh on your eyes, you should frequently take the time to give your eyes a rest and look long-distance at something else for roughly one minute, if not longer. Then you can resume your activities.

Don’t let moving to Atlanta for a desk job keep you immobile. Our Atlanta movers’ tips for keeping your body moving while at the office can save your health and your sanity in the workplace.

Fantasy in Lights. Fantasy in Lights takes the number one spot every year as the most magical Christmas light display in Georgia, but it doesn’t stop there. Fantasy in Lights has been ranked as one of the Top 10 Christmas Light Displays in the World by National Geographic. Atlanta movers and nearly every local you run into will tell you that this is the light display you will want to make your new Christmas tradition.

Garden Lights, Holiday Nights. Celebrating its fifth year, Garden Lights, Holiday Nights in Atlanta Botanical Garden has been named one of the United States’ Top 10 Holiday Lights Displays by USA Today, which is why it makes the second best Christmas light displays in Georgia.

Magical Nights of Lights. This scenic, 7-mile drive of Christmas light displays is one of the state’s longest running and takes over the majority of Lake Lanier Islands. During your drive through Magical Nights of Lights, you can expect to see Christmas light displays grouped into themed sections that almost tell a story or tale.

If you are moving to Atlanta, local moving companies have one question: Do you know who Robert Mondavi is?

You may recognize the name as being an extremely popular brand of wine; however, Atlanta residents in need will soon recognize the name as the one who supplied them with a cherished Thanksgiving turkey for their family.

This November, the Atlanta Community Food Bank is said to receive 250 Thanksgiving turkeys from Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi, as part of the brand’s “Thanks Giving Back” campaign. Atlanta movers have been letting new residents who may be in need of a family turkey, or know a family in need, know that after the turkeys arrive to the Atlanta Community Food Bank on November 5th, they will be distributed across 29 metro Atlanta and north Georgia counties for families and individuals who may not have a hot Thanksgiving meal or home.

If you are moving to Atlanta and are looking for a way to get involved in your new community, you can check out the local community kitchens, food pantries, night shelters, and senior centers to lend a helping hand divvying out these 250 turkeys. If the shelter allows, you may be able to donate additional turkeys or Thanksgiving sides as well.

Thanksgiving 2015 will be the first year that the Woodbridge tram has donated to the Atlanta food bank, but hopefully it will not be the last. After moving to Atlanta, join your Atlanta movers in showing your thankfulness and give back to the community with Woodbridge.
